It seems the back plate was shifted from full 6x6 to 35mm, somehow might’ve nudged it when loading this roll in, but you can see the loss of sharpness in the middle than the corner. Pretty touchy these cameras.

Wanted to see how the minimum focus was on the Rollei so why not some flowers. Very impressed.

  5. Rolleiflex 2.8C Planar

My new Rolleiflex 2.8C Planar, from a local sale this is a really actually nice example. There’s minor separation on the edge of taking lens, but there aren’t any significant or major scratches or coating marks on it, amazing. Possibly the least scratched up taking element on an f2.8 i’ve ever seen.

This is the first version of the f2.8 Planar in a Rollei, 10-aperture blade creates a perfect circle for beautiful bokeh. Meterless means less clutter; less engaging complicatedness that doesn’t need to be there.

    I <3 Rollei’s.

  14. Zeiss Ikon Super Ikonta 531 on Flickr.

This is a beautiful Zeiss Ikon Super Ikonda 531 from 1937. It has a coupled rangefinder, a nice Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 75mm f3.5 (Uncoated) which I took apart and cleaned all the haze out, and it’s a 6x4.5 to boot.

Folded up, it’s about 1.5” thick — which is absolutely perfect for a compact, fully capable medium format camera.

This truly is an amazing bit of work by Zeiss. Instantly one of my favorites; as i’ve always wanted to try one but without paying so much.

Testing my new-to-me, just cleaned lens Zeiss Ikon, Super Ikonta 531! This one has a Carl Zeiss Jena 75mm f3.5 Tessar that I took apart and cleaned all the haze out of, looks very sharp to me. The Super Ikonta is a 6x4.5 Medium format rangefinder folder that is super compact and very unique. This may be the medium format camera for me. This shot, wide open, taken on my not-so-favorite Ilford HP5+ and Rodinal + a pinch of salt.
